Job Overview:
The Assistant Corporate Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the North America accounting team. The role is responsible for the monthly close process, account reconciliations and departmental KPIs.
Job Responsibilities:

• Accounting:
  • In support of the VP, Corporate Controller, lead the month end close for North America entities, including but not limited to:
    • Manage the monthly close process and provide measures to streamline, condense and improve the quality of the monthly close cycle.
    • Prepare and/or review/approve journal entries per guidelines.
    • Prepare and/or review/approve balance sheet reconciliations per guidelines.
    • Conduct GL Detail research through JDE and Hubble to validate accuracy of financial statements and implement corrections for issues discovered.
    • Prepare financial trend analysis to complete income statement review, including revenue, COGS, and SG&A.
    • Collaborate with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to research results, accounting trends and generally support their decision support and analysis initiatives.
  • Global Consolidation
    • Assist and/or prepare monthly consolidated elimination entries upon completion of entity level transactions.
    • Periodically review global reconciliations to ensure compliance with corporate guidelines and translation to GAAP standards where appropriate.
  • Review of all Assets and Liabilities
    • Ensure Maintenance of Fixed Asset register and accuracy in depreciation accounting.
    • Review Inventory management procedures, physical cycle-count verification and valuation.
    • Review accruals for expenses and other liability accounts and ensure the accruals are as per accounting policy
    • Monitor Lease assets to ensure accurate accounting of Lease assets and liabilities
    • Ensure timely completion of all Balance Sheet reconciliations as required

• Reporting :
  • In support of the VP, Corporate Controller:
    • Prepare monthly financial statements including cash flow statement and EBITDA walk.
    • Prepare monthly financial reports for investor reporting through the Anaplan reporting platform.
    • Research new technical accounting standards and/or accounting issues and prepare position papers.
    • Prepare, analyze, and review annual consolidated financial statements, footnotes, and management discussion and analysis for audited financials.
    • Provide technical accounting GAAP guidance and support to all company entities. At times, this may include involvement in due diligence and other activities surrounding acquisitions/dispositions.
    • Prepare Ad hoc reporting as required.
• Compliance :
  • Interact with external auditor and manage the year-end audit to ensure that the financial statements get issued no later than March 31 (90 days post year end)
  • Evolve process flows and policies and procedures for the organization's Finance operations.
  • Prepare statutory accounts for assigned international entities
  • Ensure compliance of various applicable taxes
  • Coordinate with SVP colleagues to ensure on-time renewal of business licenses
  • Ensure timely renewals of property and vehicle insurance (this would include all corporate insurance lines D&O, fiduciary, property / casualty, WC)
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations.
• Process Improvement:
  • Work with SVP's global financial reporting teams to improve current processes
  • Research new processes for proper accounting treatment
  • Participate on cross functional teams to develop systems and processes

• People:
  • Responsible for staff development, performance evaluations and finance department structure with the CFO, VP, Corporate Controller and accounting team.
  • Manage and support the accounting and reporting team through coaching and a collaborative management style
  • Determine staffing needs based on short and long-term business goals
  • Develop and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or related field, Master's degree in business administration, public administration or other relevant field, or CPA preferred
• 7-10 years of progressive financial operations responsibility in manufacturing, retail or similarly complex organization with at least five of those years in a finance leadership role
• Demonstrated competence in financial reporting and internal controls, development of financial and budget planning models, and benchmarking tools
• Proficiency with reporting tools, ERP systems and Microsoft Office suite
• Ability to effectively supervise and build a high performance culture
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex data for a variety of audiences.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and collaboration skills with a proven track record of building effective relationships across functional areas and with external and community partners
• Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
• Transparent and open working style and high level of professional integrity

You will need to be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation, including:

• Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, meeting rooms, copier/printer etc as well as have the ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
• Communicate effectively with customers through multiple forms of technology, including telephone and computer. Must be able to receive and convey information
• Required to retrieve or reposition products like sewing machines weighing up to 50 pounds
