Job DescriptionESTIMATOR - GC (CIVIL) IN SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ
Job DescriptionGeneral Contracting Firm (Civil) in Somerset County, NJ that has been in business for over 80 years, they are doing over $100 million in business and due to their growth, they have a need for an Estimator with knowledge and field experience in Earthwork, HeavyBid, Underground Utilities, Structural CIP Concrete and Building Erection.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess5 yrs. experience as an Estimator or experience in the field with Union Labor, Heavy Construction Company as a Superintendent, Project Engineer or Project Manager so that they can visualize and understand how to build the project.
  • A Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technologies or equivalent.
An ability to prepare accurate/detailed Quantity Take-offs, Change Orders, Cost Estimates, Schedule of Values, and Proposals for construction projects in the Public/Private Sector.
An extreme focus to detail and solid communication skills (Electronic and Verbal).
A willingness to work full-time in a quiet Office environment. Site visits for pre-bid meetings are required.
Exceptional Computer Skills And Document Review Abilities.Projects are in the range of $50k to $20 million.
The position is paying in the $80-120k area, depending on experience along with a competitive and comprehensive compensation, medical benefits package and 401k.
  • Abel to act as a resource to project management during the award and start-up phase to clarify any issues regarding what was considered in the estimate including materials and methods of construction.
An ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
  • Familiarity with construction specifications, construction codes, permitting, and inspections.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, work ethic, and professionalism.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word, & Excel)
  • Demonstrated decision making skills.
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines.
  • Monitor the activities of other estimators if necessary.
  • Contact subcontractors, suppliers, and specialty service companies for RFPs.
  • Review and evaluate subcontractor's, vendor's and supplier's proposals.
