As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team.

Position Summary:

The Accountant at W8 Shipping will oversee various financial tasks to ensure the company's financial health and compliance. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing business licenses, utilizing accounting software such as Dynamics 365 and QuickBooks, and employing forensic accounting techniques to safeguard company assets.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Record Keeping: Oversee accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and payroll.

2. Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review. Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.

3. Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead in the development of annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budgeted targets and provide insights to support decision-making processes.

4. Bank Reconciliations: Oversee bank statement reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner. Ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.

5. Forensic Accounting: Employ forensic accounting techniques to detect and prevent fraud, mismanagement, and financial irregularities within the organization.

6. Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations. Coordinate with external tax advisors as needed.

7. Software Proficiency: Utilize accounting software systems such as Dynamics 365 and QuickBooks to perform day-to-day accounting tasks efficiently and accurately.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in managerial accounting or finance roles.

- Proficiency in accounting software systems, particularly Dynamics 365 and QuickBooks.

- Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Strong proficiency in Excel, using and creating formulas

Working Conditions:

- This position is exempt and requires working in an office environment.

- Standard office hours with occasional overtime may be required to meet deadlines or address urgent matters.
