Wabash is Hiring a Req 6949 Quality Inspector, 1st shift LAF 10HR Quality Assurance Near Lafayette, IN

Position Description: The dedicated Tracking Unit employee is focused on the successful installation of tracking units and related pairing/association activities to ensure end customers know where their asset (trailer) is and that all tracking unit options/add-ons are functioning properly. The position will mainly reside at End of Line, performing the standard duties with a high use of the latest telematic technologies. Deficiencies found are reported to proper channels to close the loop and maintain high first-time throughput. The employee would also need critical thinking skills to enable them to troubleshoot issues real-time or in the finished trailer lot assisting with repairs. Overall characteristics for the role is the eagerness to learn, retain information, a love for technology, and think critically.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Below are examples of the type of duties you could be responsible for:
  • Trailer Tracking unit verifications across all applicable systems being installed.
  • Troubleshooting of systems that fail initial check on production line.
  • Catch tracking unit installation issues in real time and relaying corrections upstream.
  • Provides daily update to relevant teams concerning pass/fail and issues list.
  • Assist line leadership with planning for upcoming installs and Sales Order reviews pertaining to tracking units.
  • Works close with QA personnel on training and reviewing data from root cause analysis and assisting with training of associates involved with installations.
  • Preparing for upcoming sales orders, rework in south lot, and assisting with other tracking unit related projects
  • Gather serial numbers needed for pairing process
  • Ability to be shift flexible (with notice).
  • Reports to the Quality Assurance Technician Supervisor, with main direction coming from QA Techs overseeing tracking unit systems.

Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate well with multiple levels of the organization.
  • Efficient use of MS Office suite.
  • Proficient use of Apple products and technology (Bluetooth, wireless, etc)
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Basic reading /writing/ & verbal skills.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • This position requires the ability to work on projects both individually and cross functionally as well as the ability to train others.
  • History of good attendance.
  • Resourceful – possessing the ability to perform duties (troubleshooting) with or without necessary accommodations.
  • Experience with telematic systems is preferred but not required.
  • Electrical background is a plus.
  • Possess the ability to distinguish between color-coded circuit identifiers.
Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience:Experience and education are great to come into this position with. However, it’s not required, here at Wabash, we give you the training to become comfortable in any the position. Upon receiving an offer letter from us, you’ll undergo orientation and several days of training, preparing you for the production floor.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrations. Exposure to outside elements is also a possibility.
All employees on the production floor must wear the necessary personal production equipment (PPE). Physical Demands:As an employee focused on tracking unit installations, you are regularly required to stand, walk, lean, push, climb, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, handle and operate tools or controls for the length of their entire shift and sometimes from ladders. Most work will entail use of an Ipad or similar device. The employee needs full range of motion in their arms and hands in this position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus, along with good hand-eye coordination.
