Job Summary: The Accounts Payable position at Walker Automotive is an essential role in our Accounting and Finance department. This is a full-time, individual contributor position in the auto industry located in Alexandria, Louisiana. The main responsibility of this role is to ensure all payments to vendors and suppliers are accurately processed and recorded in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Compensation & Benefits: The compensation for this position is $15 to $18 per hour (based on experience). Responsibilities:
Process and review all incoming invoices, purchase orders, and check requests for accuracy and completeness
Code and enter invoices into the accounting system, ensuring appropriate general ledger coding is applied
Prepare and process weekly check runs and electronic payments to vendors and suppliers
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies or issues in a timely manner
Communicate with internal departments and external parties to resolve any invoice or payment discrepancies
Maintain organized and accurate accounts payable files
Assist with month-end closing activities and provide support for audits
Adhere to all company policies and procedures and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
Other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager or Controller
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent, some college coursework in accounting or related field preferred
1-2 years of experience in accounts payable, preferably in the auto industry
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software, ADP preferred
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and in a team setting
Knowledge of GAAP and basic accounting principles
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
