Walt Disney Imagineering is Hiring a Show Sourcing Specialist Sr Near Glendale, CA

Walt Disney Imagineering is the master planning, creative design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of Disney's Parks and Resorts business segment. Representing more than 150 disciplines, its experienced teams of Imagineers are leading the creation of Disney resorts, theme parks and attractions, hotels, water parks, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, cruise ships and new media technology projects.
The Show Systems Studio is where we produce, make, and build the magic! Our processes and tool sets take us from concept design or mock-ups all the way through to full-on production, assembly, and installation. Our procurement team plays a vital role in this process by ensuring that our production and engineering teams are able to efficiently work with external vendors to source, purchase or produce components timely and within budget.
The Show Sourcing Specialist Senior will report to the Illusion Production Senior Manager.
What You Will Do
  • Primarily responsible for developing sourcing and procurement strategies across all products within the studio, focusing on Audio-Animatronics.
  • Build a strong and reliable vendor base by continuously sourcing new suppliers, building partnerships with key vendors, and seeking out innovative manufacturing techniques/processes for our components & assemblies.
  • Work multi-functionally between engineering, production, scheduling, and project management teams to develop and implement procurement strategies for all of the projects supported by Show Systems studio.
  • Develop vendor performance metrics, including tracking performance for both delivery and quality metrics to improve the reliability of our vendor base.
  • Engage in the early stages of product development to provide recommendations on the feasibility, cost, and risk of designs from a procurement perspective.
  • Become the primary point of contact for studio leadership for developing both financial and lead time estimates around procurement activities and apply previous performance data to standardize the estimating & scheduling processes at different stages of the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Five (5) years of shown experience directly supporting procurement, purchasing, supplier management, and/or strategic sourcing within a manufacturing environment.
  • Direct experience with developing high-level sourcing, procurement, and inventory strategies for diverse materials. Able to lead vendor negotiations for long-term agreements and pricing strategies.
  • Experience in a collaborative and innovative work environment, able to communicate and collaborate with individuals and leaders across multiple technical fields both within and outside the organization.
  • Knowledge of traditional and emerging manufacturing techniques, able to steer discussion and decision-making regarding sourcing and procurement of various mechanical and electrical components/assemblies.
  • Basic familiarity with analysis techniques and tools used to compile and communicate data across teams (i.e. Microsoft Excel, SQL, Tableau, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience leading all aspects of the procurement process, including vendor sourcing and selection, quoting, purchasing, and handling deliveries and logistics from outside vendors.
  • Experience with establishing and implementing standards for vendor performance, including component quality and timely delivery, to improve reliability of the supply chain base.
  • Strong familiarity supporting the design and production of new products, able to offer recommendations and perspective during the design process as it relates to availability, cost and/or risk in the procurement process.
  • Experience supporting procurement/purchasing activities in the aerospace, automotive, or equivalent industries, with a focus on new products.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Engineering, Logistics, or Supply Chain required.

The hiring range for this position in Glendale is $101,800.00 to $124,400.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
