POSITION TITLE: Bakery Chef
SALARY: $50,000-$60,000/year
HOURS: Full-Time, Weekends & Evenings
LOCATION: Lago Vista, TX
Position SummaryPrepare and bake a variety of wedding cakes and desserts according to established recipes and standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the bakery, always adhering to food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Manage inventory of baking ingredients and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and freshness.
- Manage inventory levels of baking ingredients, supplies, and finished products, minimizing waste and optimizing profitability.
- Continually enhancing skills and knowledge.
- Open the bakery early in the morning
- Clean kitchen equipment and tools before use
- Weigh flour and other ingredients to prepare dough
- Adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking
- Mix various ingredients to create fillings for cakes and pies (e.g. chocolate ganache, caramel sauce and fruits)
- Decorate cakes with glazes, icings, buttercream and edible toppings, like flowers
- Shape dough to prepare different types of pastries
- Prepare custom-made pastries
- Consult with clients and planners for custom bakery requests and custom cakes
- Ensure timely delivery of prepared goods to venues
- Recommend recipes to renew our menu and attract more customers (e.g. gluten-free or vegan desserts)
- Track food supplies and place orders, as needed
- Ensure the proper storage of baking utensils.
- Assess the quality of raw materials before baking.
- Decorate baked products using glaze, icing and other toppings to achieve a finished appearance.
- Understanding of food safety practices (Texas food manager certification required)

- 1-2 years of successful culinary experience
- Food Protection Manager Certification
- Systematic
- Ability to work Weekends/Nights and Holidays
- Ability to speak, read & write English
- Competency with MS Word and Excel systems
