As a Mechanical Engineer, you will employ engineering principles in the analysis and design of positive displacement pumps representing several distinct pump technologies. In this role, you will support new product development and product improvements of agricultural and industrial pump product lines and related equipment which are used worldwide that people depend on for water, sanitation, food, oil, and so much more!

This is a great opportunity for a recent grad with previous co-op/internship experience or a minimum of two years of on-the-job engineering experience.

What you’ll do:

• Interface with the Wanner advanced technology team to develop new product ideas and enhancements.
• Use engineering principles, proprietary design tools, and internal design criteria to develop new product concepts or enhanced features that meet all required product performance requirements.
• Create 3-D models, assemblies, and 2-D prints as needed to validate concepts, detail designs, and communicate design intent.
• Complete detailed assembly prints with full component bill of materials (BOMs) for new designs.
• Submit engineering change requests (ECR) to release new parts and BOMs for product release.
• Take concepts to production by managing engineering project activities and priorities while coordinating with sales, manufacturing, sourcing, and quality.
• Specify and supervise product validation testing required to validate new concepts and designs including documenting test results of standardized tests.
• Work closely with sourcing to develop complete costs for new or modified products.
• Support customers and sales team with precise information on product installation requirements and application notes.
• Provide input on technical content of product literature ensuring accuracy of performance data, configurations, maintenance and operating instructions.
• Provide frequent updates for manager on all product development activities including maintaining project schedule and status.
• Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

What you bring:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline from an ABET accredited institution.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Mechanical Engineer with mechanical systems. New graduates with previous internship or co-op experience will also be considered. Experience working with pumps or fluid handling equipment is beneficial but not required.
• Mechanical aptitude with the interest and ability to work directly on mechanical systems and pump components.
• A mature, self-starter with superior communication skills ability to work within a team
• Ability to manage multiple projects and shift priorities as needed based on project timelines
• Familiarity with engineering standards and work processes
• Experience with solid modeling CAD systems (Solidworks preferred but not required)
• Experience with basic manufacturing technologies and processes is preferred but not required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project
• Familiar with engineering standards and processes.
• Experience with FEA and FEA software a plus, but not required.
• Must be willing to travel in order to represent the company at customer and vendor sites as required (<10% travel expected)
