Overview :

The Associate Materials Planner will plan and manage the flow of raw materials throughout the entire supply chain.

Responsibilities :

Own material flow from procurement through on-time delivery to manufacturing.

Work with master planning and production planning to plan, procure and provide promise dates for materials.

Expedite critical material availability from stock and suppliers, based on manufacturing needs.

Work closely with Manufacturing and Logistics to develop and maintain appropriate safety stock levels.

Manage material attribute data in the MRP system.

Actively and systematically look to improve business processes related to material planning, procurement and inventory management.

Evaluate the effect of system and process changes as they occur within the supply chain.

Develop and maintain metrics for material availability performance.

Actively participate in continuous improvement opportunities.

Normally receives minimal instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.

Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required

May be required to work Holidays and weekends

Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals

Perform job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, and WuXi AppTec Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.

Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices

Other duties as assigned

May be required to assist in other departments

Qualifications :

Experience / Education

3 to 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent

Bachelors’ degree in Materials Management, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :

Proven experience with ERP / MRP system in a manufacturing environment

GMP / GLP experience preferred

Great Plains software experience preferred

Experience with Lean Manufacturing preferred

Must work effectively in a participative team environment and deliver on commitments

Must have time management skills, multi-tasking ability, & demonstrated problem solving skills

Excellent presentation skills, both written and oral a must

Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills

Need to be able to read, write and understand English

Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Physical Requirements :

Must be able to work in an office environment with minimal noise conditions.

Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels

Ability to stand / Sit / walk for long periods of time

Ability to perform heavy physical work, lifting up to 65 pounds.

Ability to identify and distinguish colors

Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions

Ability to climb Ladders / Stairs / Scaffolding
