The Fluids Lab Analyst I is responsible for interpreting fluids samples and to support customers with proactive maintenance recommendations. Contribute to a well-organized work group striving to deliver unparalleled results through optimizing instrument operation, instrument productivity, and instrument maintenance and repairs. Maintain a clean and customer friendly facility while adhering to all company, local and state regulations that may apply.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Interpret and communicate reports and/or results of lubricants, and basic coolants.
  • Maintain quality standards and meet interpretation targets; request reanalysis of fluids when necessary; make proactive maintenance recommendations to support customers.
  • Communicate daily on progression of samples; promptly communicate delays in providing timely reports to customers.
  • Research Caterpillar technical information through SIS and other resources.
  • Register samples when needed.
  • Maintain customer account information.
  • Promote communication, collaboration and cooperation; all lead to increased customer focus and in turn loyalty.
  • Serve as a customer contact, responding quickly to the needs of both internal and external customers.
  • Mailing and distribution of sample reports.
  • Assist with developing, recommending, revising and maintaining all standard operating procedures for all instruments providing a foundation for ISO Certification.
  • Maintain lab cleanliness to portray image of cleanliness and excellence.
  • Complete required safety and technical training required to perform this role.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Associates degree (A. S.) or equivalent from two-year college or university; one to three years related lab experience and/or training; or four to six years of heavy equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in similar field.
  • Strong heavy machinery background preferred to help produce accurate maintenance recommendations based on oil, coolant, and fuel sample results.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, analytical, collaboration and communication skills.
  • Advanced understanding of fluids testing performed.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite software, Caterpillar dealer business system, and customer relationship management tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures, manuals and maintenance logs.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively in front of groups of customers and/or employees.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
