Title: Guidance Counselor/Testing Coordinator
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent
FLSA Status: Exempt
195 Day Contract 
Start date is 8/1/2024
Summary: Provides support services to students, staff, and parents. Support services include referrals, counseling, assessment, diagnostics, and report writing. This work takes place at Warren County Educational Service Center educational buildings. Additional responsibilities include student rosters, transcripts, scheduling, and coordinating all assessments as mandated by the Ohio Department of Education.
Qualifications:
1. Master’s Degree in School Counseling or Related Field
2. Valid Ohio driver’s license
3. Access to own motor vehicle
4. Effective communication skills in English
5. Ability to lift 40 pounds unassisted
6. Ability to maneuver stairs unassisted
7. Pass criminal background check
Essential Functions:
1. Responsible for assigning student’s schedule to meet Local and State graduation requirements. Assists in the orientation process.
2. Plan, develop, and provide guidance and counseling services which meet specific needs and expectations of students, parents, and administration.
3. Responsible for creating and maintaining students 9-12th WCESC individual graduation plans. Individual graduation plans include tracking credits towards graduation; tracking progress towards state seals; tracking alternative pathways to graduation when appropriate.
4. Responsible for planning and implementing district level testing such as NWEA MAP, USCIENCE, etc.
5. Responsible for planning and implementing district level testing for students K-3rd grade in relation to the 3rd grade reading guarantee requirements for Ohio.
6. Responsible for uploading IEP and 504 testing accommodations for students into Ohio’s TIDE system.
7. Responsible for managing users and student information in Ohio’s TIDE system.
8. Responsible for creating and maintaining a WCESC wide database of students’ scores on state assessments.
9. Provide an open, non-judgmental, counseling climate where students willingly participate.
10. Perform testing when appropriate in terms of skills and training; follow test standardization for administration and scoring.
11. Masters the computer technology needed to perform daily guidance tasks.
12 .Participate in professional growth and development through course work and/or seminars, and professional reading and staff meetings.
13 .Works with program administrators to develop and implement strategies to increase graduation rates.
14. Organize and file administrative materials. Meets deadlines for grants, paperwork, and other responsibilities.
15. Provide timely follow through on commitments to students, parents, and faculty.
16. Engage in positive, professional behaviors which are child centered and free of rumor, or gossip about students, families, staff, or administration.
17. Protect the confidentiality of students, faculty, and families.
18. Perform all responsibilities defined for caseload by the school administration.
19. Follow state and federal regulations.
20. Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
21. Perform all duties in conformity to the adopted Board Policy.
22. Display professional appearance.
23. Perform in a professional manner.
Other Duties andResponsibilities:
1. Serves as a role model for educators and students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible,intelligent human beings.
2. Helps instill in students and staff the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
3. Shall perform such other duties as the Governing Board may assign/determine.
4. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the County/District.
5. Observes Risk Reduction Safety Rules and Regulations of the Warren County ESC and School Districts, State, Federal, OSHA laws and will be evaluated to the extent of compliance and implementation as an employee of such rules and regulations for safety in the workplace while visiting such sites in line of work duties.
