WCPS is offering 2% additional compensation to new, eligible employees in addition to base salaries for the 2022-2023 school year. Role Overview The locksmith's primary focus is door hardware to include but not limited to; lock sets, hinges, closers, emergency exit hardware, electronic lock releases, etc. Controlling the inventory of keys distributed to WCPS staff is also a critical role of this position. Installation and repairs to all types of entry and exit doors, and framing structure, is part of the duties. Minimum Requirements High school diploma/GED or combination of training, experience, and education. Valid driver’s license with no court ordered restrictions, complete driving history must be provided. Has two (2) years of successful experience performing the duties of a locksmith and working with commercial hardware. Knowledge of all types of locks, fastening devices, and related door hardware. Possess a valid driver's license, without court ordered restrictions. Ability to use computer systems to perform work functions and send/receive emails. Regular and predictable attendance which is an essential function of this position. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. Preferred Qualifications Possess locksmith certification or service authorization from a major industrial lock company. Working knowledge of electrical locking devices, security system devices, applicable code requirements, including those regulations pertaining to fire exits and door hardware. Applied experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for entering, tracking, and recording repair tasks. Has four (4) years of successful experience in the performance of the duties of a locksmith. Has four (4) years of experience installing doors/ frames and commercial hardware. Role Responsibilities Installs, maintains, repairs and adjusts all types of commercial lockable hardware and their components such as doors, frames, automatic openers, and keying systems to ensure safety of school facilities. Keying and re-keying new and existing cylinders. Cuts new or duplicate keys using key cutting machine. Must maintain master keyed locking records. Keeps organized, written records of company locks and keys as the ability to perform work from work orders and other informational excel data. Repairs and replaces electrical locking devices such as door strikes, magnetized-locks, locks and rollers, etc. Work with suppliers for ordering repair parts and determining the availability of replacements for aging hardware and doors. Availability to provide off-hour service of locks and other security issues. Assemble, install, and repair all types of entry/exit doors and framing structures according to directions from blueprints and sketches. Work mandatory overtime in times of inclement weather (snow plowing). Demonstrates courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools. Other duties as assigned.
