Washington Elementary School District No. 6 is Hiring a Maintenance Supervisor II - Painting Supervisor Near Glendale, AZ

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Creation/Revision Date: July 1, 2017

Summary: Under general direction, incumbent assigns and monitors work of specific crafts as well as performing the full range of duties assigned to staff. Coordinates and monitors the work of outside contractors; participates in budget preparation by projecting capital needs; maintains parts inventory; inspects the work of assigned staff to ensure city codes, District standards and state laws are complied with; and, coordinates the work of others while working on projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs one or more of the skilled functions such as painting, , preparing surfaces (e.g cleaning, sanding, patching, texturing) for painting, painting/refinishing various surfaces etc. in performing repair work, preventive maintenance, grounds maintenance and building maintenance. Duties might include one or more of the following: welding materials according to specifications; unclogging drains and ensuring proper flow of sewage; repairing/replacing refrigeration units and swamp coolers; repairing/replacing gas lines and pipes; repairing/replacing/building doors, walls and ceilings; fabricating and installing cabinetry and counters; designing and maintaining water and control systems for landscaping; performing electrical duties such as rewiring and wiring new areas, preparing surfaces (e.g cleaning, sanding, patching, texturing) for painting, painting/refinishing various surfaces (buildings, parking lots, fences), preparing roof surface and applying elastomeric roof coating .
  • Assigns and monitors work of semi-skilled and skilled crafts workers including assessing scope of the job, conducting on-site inspections, establishing work plans, creating work schedules, establishing priorities and inspecting job sites after work is completed. Ensures all jobs meet specifications of codes, laws and regulations governing trade area.
  • Maintains daily logs and required records by ensuring all staff turn in work orders and logs and all required records are accounted for including licensing, blueprints, schematics and certificates.
  • Coordinates and monitors the work of staff with outside contractors and other staff working on projects including setting timelines, establishing schedules and monitoring projects for compliance with codes, laws and regulations governing area of work. Works with purchasing agent in determining specifications for contractors.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment needed to perform daily operations and orders required supplies and equipment for special projects.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (G.E.D.) and six years journey level experience in area of assignment including one year in a supervisory or lead capacity; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
