WASHINGTON JEFFERSON COLLEGE is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Washington, PA

SummaryResponsible for the day-to-day accounting functions for Washington & Jefferson College. The Staff Accountant will also assist with various audits and projects throughout the year.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Analyzes and prepares general ledger and bank reconciliations
  • Responsible for completing daily posting process
  • Review employee reimbursements for accuracy and validity
  • Prepares journal entries and maintains electronic copies of all entries
  • Assists with monthly, quarterly and year-end entries and reporting
  • Administrator for college credit card system
  • Sends ACH/Wire Transfer payments
  • Reconciles cash accounts and various balance sheet accounts
  • Backup for Accounts Payable
  • Records daily cash activity
  • Responsible for the annual escheated check process
  • Provide support to all areas of accounting as needed
  • Additional job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree with emphasis in accounting OR minimum 5 years of experience in accounting/financial bookkeeping.
  • Proficient abilities in operating computerized accounting systems, spreadsheets required.
  • Ability to complete projects with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports and present information to others.
  • Must be able to work both independently and as a team.
Supervisory DutiesThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.
