Washington State Department of Health is Hiring a Testing Promotion Coordinator (HSC3) DOH8159 Near Tumwater, WA

Description Make a difference. This role will support the Department of Health's (DOH) mission to protect and improve the health of people in Washington state by advancing public health efforts grounded in three core values: equity, innovation, and engagement.
Positioned within the Division of Environmental Public Health (EPH) in the Office of Environmental Public Health Sciences (OEPHS), EPH contributes to the DOH mission by preventing and reducing exposure to environmental health hazards and fostering healthy living, working, and recreational spaces. The OEPHS team ensures that environmental public health programs are scientifically sound, with a focus on environmental justice and the impacts of climate change.
The Testing Promotion Coordinator (HSC3) works out of the Healthy Homes & Communities Section and reports to the Child Lead Prevention and Response Team supervisor. It focuses on promoting childhood blood lead testing, especially among Medicaid-enrolled children, through outreach and technical assistance. Using a health equity lens, the role promotes education, policy development, and multi-sector collaboration to increase lead testing rates in Washington State. By coordinating with local health jurisdictions and state and federal agencies, this position aims to reduce and eliminate childhood lead poisoning, particularly in communities most impacted by social and environmental inequities.
The duty station for this Health Services Consultant 3 (HSC3) is in Tumwater , WA. A combination of in-office and telework is currently expected. It is anticipated that the incumbent would be expected at the duty station for work activities 2-3 days a month .

Required QualificationsExperience defined below may have been gained through paid or unpaid activities. Option 1: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Public Health, Community Health, Communication, Social Marketing, Education, or closely allied field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in public health, health promotion, or other similar environmental health positions.
  • Experience preparing formal documents such as reports and contracts.
  • Experience providing training to public health agencies, medical providers, or other professional groups.
  • Experience building partnerships and working collaboratively with state agencies, local health jurisdictions, community organizations, or medical providers.
Option 2: A minimum of 5 years of experience in public health, health promotion, or other similar environmental health positions that includes all of the following:
  • Experience preparing formal documents such as reports and contracts.
  • Experience providing training to public health agencies, medical providers, or other professional groups.
  • Experience building partnerships and working collaboratively with state agencies, local health jurisdictions, community organizations, or medical providers.
Desired Qualifications
  • Professional experience that includes health risk and exposure communication.
  • Contract management experience.
  • Experience promoting healthcare provider behavior change.

Conditions of Employment/Working Conditions With or without accommodation, I am willing and able to:
