Location: Natural Resources Building- Olympia, WA

Work Hours and Partial Telework flexibility may be available and considered

Relocation Compensation may be available and considered

Salary: $5,117.00 - $6,876.00 Monthly

The salary range listed includes a general wage increase of 3% for all state employees effective July 1, 2024.

The Graphic Designer supports DNR’s mission by producing high-quality graphic design and other visual communications to help the public, media, and internal and external interested parties understand the Agency’s mission and explain how the Agency carries out its work in support of Washington's lands, people, and communities. This position is the lead for all graphic design and visual communications in the Agency, develops and maintains the Agency’s graphic identity, and works with all Divisions and Programs to help tell the story of the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible design experience or a combination of education and equivalent experience.
  • Experience designing for organizations, including developing materials for factsheets, social media, web, and special publications such as reports and white papers.
  • Experience interpreting and analyzing public information, policy, and issues.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting an environment that honors diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental justice practices.
  • Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and public records retention and requests are followed.
  • Ability to think innovatively and creatively and change course if necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills, graphic, written, and verbal, and ability to make complex information understandable to the general public using visual design.
