Washington State Department of Social and Health Services is Hiring a DSHS FFA Fiscal Analyst 2 Near Olympia, WA

Description DSHS FFA Fiscal Analyst 2 The Facilities & Analytics Administration Office of Financial Recovery (OFR) is now hiring a Fiscal Analyst 2. OFR provides billing, accounting, and debt collection services for the Department of Social and Health Services, the Department of Children, Youth and Families, and the Health Care Authority.
This position is assigned to the Accounting Unit, reporting to the Office of Financial Recovery Accounting Manager. In this unit, they will work as part of a team to perform a variety of accounting tasks. They will help manage accounts payable shared inboxes, conduct research, and perform data analysis. They will work with collections of Overpayments, supporting the Estate Recovery unit and other collection units when needed. They will help support the reconciliation of the suspense accounts and conduct research for these transactions when needed.
Some Of What You Will Do
  • Generate system reports for analysis of suspense balance payments. Then use the appropriate batch process to move payment to the correct line of business or account. Processing refunds following compliance with financial requirements and agency policies
  • Manage Accounts Payable shared inboxes, conducting research and data analysis.
  • Review payments accurately and timely according to established procedures, ensuring compliance with state and agency regulations
  • Compare and verify vendor invoices and approved documentation/receiving reports, addressing discrepancies with appropriate contacts
  • Process payments accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with fiscal policies and state regulations
  • Analyze payables transactions for accuracy and compliance with financial requirements and agency policies
  • Examine documents received and correspondence related to Client, Provider, Employee, and other miscellaneous overpayments to determine and initiate appropriate action
What We Are Looking For
  • Detail-oriented with critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs: Outlook, Excel, Word and Teams
Who should apply? Professionals who have a bachelor's degree, with a minimum of 12 semesters or 18 quarter hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting and 1 to 2 years of relevant professional experience.

  • Professional experience may substitute for education, but not for the accounting, audit, or budget-related credit hours
  • A master's degree in a financial related field; or certification as a Public Accountant, Internal Auditor, Certified Governmental Financial Manager, or Management Accountant can be substituted for professional experience
