Position SummaryThe HR Data Analyst will play a vital role in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting HR data to provide insights and support data-driven HR decision-making. The successful candidate will have excellent analytical skills, a strong understanding of HR processes, and the ability to translate complex data into meaningful reports and recommendations.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets HR data and metrics from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Develops and maintains HR dashboards, reports, and presentations that effectively communicate findings to HR and business leaders.
  • Conducts research and gathers market intelligence on HR best practices, industry trends, and benchmarks to enhance HR programs and processes.
  • Supports the design, implementation, and evaluation of HR programs, policies, and initiatives based on data analysis and insights.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to gather HR data requirements, ensure data accuracy and integrity, and automate reporting processes when possible.
  • Performs in-depth data analysis to identify areas for improvement, cost-saving opportunities, and efficiency enhancements in HR operations.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of employee surveys, analyzing results, and providing recommendations for action.
  • Partners with HR business partners and other stakeholders to understand their data needs, provide analytical support, and deliver data-driven insights.
  • Stays abreast of changes in HR laws, regulations, and best practices to ensure data compliance and inform HR policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the preparation of HR reports for the senior leadership team presentations.
  • Collaborates on special HR projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Maintains data confidentiality and handle sensitive information with utmost discretion.
Personal Development and Team Building
  • Participation in relevant professional development learning opportunities to maintain currency in the field.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP).
  • Prior experience in a higher education technology environment.
  • Plus two years of experience in HR analytics, HR reporting, or a related analytical role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data from various HR systems and sources.
  • Proficient in using HRMS, HRIS, or other relevant systems and tools to extract and analyze HR data.
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to create impactful reports and dashboards.
  • Solid understanding of HR metrics, analytics methods, and statistical concepts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data and findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
  • Knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze significant amounts of information with strict attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret data and use it to drive business decisions.
  • At least three years of experience analyzing data in complex organization with large constituencies or populations.
  • Ability to collaborate with others, working independently and with team members.
  • Ability to handle a variety of projects and tasks simultaneously and balance competing deadlines. Will work in a diligent fashion to ensure timelines are followed closely and met consistently.
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Understanding of analytical problem solving methodologies.
  • Prior use and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Salary Range$23.37 - $36.19 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
