Washington University in St. Louis is Hiring a Postdoctoral Research Associate - Anesthesiology Near St Louis, MO

Job DescriptionPosition SummaryThe Chamessian lab is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. We are a newly established translational research group focusing on the molecular pathogenesis of neuropathic pain and the development of novel therapies for this debilitating condition. The research we conduct is driven by our overall mission to significantly improve the clinical care of patients living with neuropathic pain.
To accomplish our goals, we use a wide array of approaches and methods including single cell and bulk -omics technologies, imaging, biochemical and cellular assays, whole animal and in vitro disease modeling and bioinformatics. We take a ‘human-first’ approach, using observations and specimens obtained from patients with neuropathic pain or from post-mortem organ donors, affording us the ability to directly address the human pain neuraxis, which we believe will allow us to more rapidly and successfully translate our findings to clinical care.
For this position, the postdoctoral researcher will be expected to advance and expand on a highly innovative project to develop a novel class of analgesic. The postdoctoral researcher will have opportunities to collaborate with other investigators within and outside of Washington University, and to play a leadership role in the lab, overseeing other research personnel to achieve shared goals. This position is also likely to lead to exciting entrepreneurial and commercial opportunities and will be especially well-suited for researchers who desire to operate at the interface of academia and industry.
