Position SummaryA position is available in Dr. Grant Challen’s laboratory in the Division of Oncology at Washington University in St. Louis. This position is ideal for candidates interested in pursuing careers in science or medicine. The project is to perform single cell genomics to dissect the clonal evolution of chronic myeloid disorders to acute leukemia.
The Challen lab investigates the epigenetic regulation of normal and malignant hematopoiesis. Our lab uses a variety of cutting edge next-generation sequencing technologies coupled with traditional cell culture, molecular biology and mouse model genetics to unravel the roles of epigenetics in hematopoiesis. Techniques will include cell culture, flow cytometry, single cell sequencing, genomic library preparation and bioinformatic analysis. The candidate may assist with preparing materials for presentation and manuscript.
This is a time-limited position of up to 2 years.

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
- Performs data entry and maintains data files on research.
- Prepares tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
- Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
- Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
- Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators.
- Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
- Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment.
