Position Summary

This position will support multiple NIH funded clinical research studies on the longitudinal progression of Parkinson disease and identification of prognostic biomarkers.

The primary responsibilities include recruitment and scheduling of study participants, assisting with lumbar punctures, covering PET scans (i.e., place i.v. and inject radiopharmaceuticals), clinical assessments, and regulatory and study documentation.

This is a M-F days, no weekends, no holidays position.

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate and assist with longitudinal studies of Parkinson disease.

* Assess potential participants for eligibility criteria.

* Recruit/Schedule/Consent participants and maintain contacts with participants for retention.

* Coordinate and assist with lumbar punctures and PET scans.

* Consent and prep for lumbar puncture; monitor, assist, and follow-up with participant after LP; arrange and assist with blood patch procedure if necessary.

* Place and manage iv lines for PET scans; manage arterial lines.

* Administer radiopharmaceuticals.

* Complete all associated documentation.

* Perform clinical assessments, which may include: Psychiatric assessment, health & medical history, clinical dementia ratings (CDR), and motor exam and gait testing.

* Follow up with families of expired participants to obtain interim histories and clinical assessments.

* Other tasks as necessary in support of these research studies.

Maintain regulatory protocols.

* Handle all Radioactive Drug Research Committee (RDRC) protocols and reporting.

* Handle all Human Research Protection Office (HRPO) protocols and reporting.

* Handle all Federal Drug Enforcement (FDA) protocols and reporting.

* Maintain PETDAT information for documenting radiopharmaceutical administration.

* Assist and manage regulatory information for all RDRC protocols under Dr. Perlmutter's authorized user authority.

Preferred Qualifications

* Clinical research certification.

* 2 years of experience in an academic research setting.

* Working knowledge of computer programs and systems.

* Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

* Our research studies are multi-disciplinary and require team effort, flexibility, and good problem solving skills.

Required Qualifications

* Graduate of an accredited nursing program with 2 years of related nursing or research experience.

* REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Current RN licensure in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location. Basic Life Support Certification. Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements.

Salary Range

$59,600.00 - $103,600.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
