Position SummarySeeking a Senior Scientist to work in the Balls-Berry Lab in the Department of Neurology. This position collaborates on and helps lead the design, conduct, and dissemination of complex health services and epidemiological research.
Job DescriptionPrimary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collaborates on the design, conduct, and dissemination of research projects.
  • Conducts analyses of large health care datasets and qualitative research.
  • Assists with Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Data Use Agreement submissions and reporting.
  • Complies with established IRB, data use, and funder (e.g., NIH) agreements, and maintains required documentation.
  • Assists with supervision and training of other staff members.
  • Assists with grant preparation and reporting. May submit grant proposals with the approval of the PI.
  • Prepares and submits papers on research to peer-reviewed journals.
  • Develops hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it.
  • Manages research projects with other institutions and investigators.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Work LocationThis hybrid position works in a medical school academic office location in St. Louis, MO.
Working ConditionsWorks in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical and radioactive hazards. Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in biomedical research, public health, health services research, health economics, health policy, public policy, or related degree with substantial quantitative and qualitative research experience.
  • Analytical, quantitative, verbal reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in clinical and translational science.
  • Highly skilled and experienced in SAS, Stata, and/or R Studio programming plus qualitative analysis software like NVivo and/or AtlasTi.
  • Ability to communicate in oral and written form with all levels of personnel and technical publications.
  • Ability to work well independently or as a team member.
Required QualificationsPhD, M.D. or equivalent terminal degree and at least 3 years of postdoctoral experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling 12 years.

Salary Range
$62,200.00 - $112,700.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
