Waste Commission of Scott County is Hiring a Maintenance Technician II -2nd Shift Near Davenport, IA

Second Shift Maintenance Technician (full-time), $26.30/hourly plus $1.00/hour Shift Differential. Under general supervision, organize, implement, and conduct the maintenance at Commission facilities safely to maximize efficiency in operations. The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for rolling and stationary operational equipment as well as site and building maintenance. Responsible for performing basic equipment diagnosis for all mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential functions may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Duties and responsibilities are listed to reflect a sense of key priority; they are not listed to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Maintains Commission equipment in safe and operational condition. Maintain required service and repair records 2. Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. 3. In coordination with the Facility Supervisor and/or facility Manager arrange for service from qualified service providers.4. Operation of equipment to move material throughout Commission facilities. 5. Educate staff by providing training on the Commission’s preventative maintenance program.6. Conduct preventative maintenance and normal building and site maintenance. 7. Repairs and performs maintenance on conveyor belts such as replacing rollers, pulleys, and bearings. 8. Performs screen maintenance such as removing and maintenance on spindles, sprockets, and chain drives. 9. Maintains organization of shop tools and parts inventories. 10. Adheres to facility cleanliness, 5S organizational systems, and facility standard work procedures while maintaining a vision for continuous improvement. 11. Perform other job-related duties as needed and/or assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Certification Requirements: Successful completion of forklift certification (when required) Preferred certification in Red Cross CPR and safety training. Physical Demands: Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, talk and hear, and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to stand, walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally required to sit and smell or taste. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Must follow Commission safety protocols for lifting in excess of 100 pounds, including but not limited to team lifting techniques.Regularly required to utilize personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hat, and safety shoes. Must frequently utilize personal protection equipment such as hearing protection and gloves. Must occasionally utilize personal protective equipment such as aprons, protective clothing, and respirators. Requires good spatial perception and manual dexterity. Working Environment: Frequently required to perform work outdoors year round with exposures to weather conditions prevalent at the time. Routine exposure to vibration and loud background noise. Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; work in high, precarious places; risk of electric shock; and extreme heat (non-weather). Occasional non-regular work hours, which may include on-call shifts for breakdowns, days, nights, and weekends. Work hours may be on rotation to meet the operational needs of the facility.
