Waste Connections is Hiring an Equipment Operator Near Tuscaloosa, AL

We are looking for a self motivated, experienced Equipment Operator to join the team at Cypress Creek Landfill in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Previous landfill, transfer station, or waste experience would be a huge plus, but willing to train the right candidate.
Schedule
  • Typically Monday thru Friday from 7 am - 5 pm *subject to change*
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Preform Maintenance around the site and facilities as needed
  • Perform general labor duties around Landfill
  • Assist with landscaping duties
  • Spreading and compacting trash using a compactor
  • Spreading daily cover using a Dozer
  • Excavating soil using a excavator
  • Maintaining haul roads using a grader
  • Hauling soil
  • Work in a fast paced, team environment
  • Follow safe operating practices
  • Learn and use interpersonal skills relating to good customer service
Job Requirements
  • Experience running an ADT, excavator, dozer, and/or a 826 compactor.
  • Experience final grading.
  • Experience in a landfill, transfer station, or waste experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs repeatedly throughout the day.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to be self directed as well as work in a team environment.
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.
Working Conditions And Physical Effort
  • Work environment is an outdoor landfill setting. The employee will work near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Areas are clean, ventilated, and well lit.
