JOB DESCRIPTION

I. Job Summary
This position provides project development and administrative support for the Business Development team in the execution and build-out of organics recycling capital projects. The position will lead multidisciplinary ad-hoc project teams comprised of WM staff (business development, technical, environmental, financial, legal), third-party solution providers, customer executives / employees, field operators, third-party technical partners, service providers, legal counsel and financiers in the development of organics recycling projects.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Working with Business Development, Operations and Market Area staff, lead multi-disciplinary project execution teams, coordinating support from across the company and regularly presenting updates to senior management;
  • Lead detailed evaluation of the technical, financial and operational potential of a wide range of organic recycling capital projects. while comprehending and assessing the logistics associated with collecting, hauling, preprocessing and delivering organic wastes;
  • Work alongside experienced field operators and professional engineers to design, develop, construct, and operate organic conversion technologies;
  • Conceptualize, develop and implement innovative renewable energy solutions;
  • Plan and conduct detailed project execution plans, including selection and coordination of third-party providers and contractors;
  • Support the development of project financial models, and present analysis and make recommendations to senior management on various project delivery and financing structures;
  • Thoroughly document project designs and present convincing arguments in formal proposals and presentation;
  • Coordinate and manage activities performed by third-party regulators, and engineers;
  • Concurrently manage the development of multiple WM Organics Recycling projects;
  • Support business development, and corporate strategy activity to bring projects to reality
  • Other duties as assigned.
III. Supervisory Responsibilities
The highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is the management of employees. This includes:
  • Potential direct supervision of up to two full-time employees.
IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and/or Sciences (accredited).
  • Experience: 5 years relevant work experience with at least 3 years in renewable energy, anaerobic digestion, resource recovery, wastewater treatment, or related experience (in addition to education requirement).
B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
  • None required. Preference will be given to those with engineering, renewable energy, wastewater treatment, and related professional certification(s).
C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
  • Commitment to Environmental Compliance and Safety
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and passion for the role
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, and to work as part of a team
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft suite, plus Visio, and/or AutoCad or equivalent
  • Engineering/construction, and science background
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Positive disposition and attitude
  • Integrity and sound ethical reasoning
  • Solid analytical and reasoning skills
  • Ability to work with varying personalities and skill-sets
  • Entrepreneurial team player, willing and able to dedicate the time necessary meet company objectives and contribute in multiple ways in a start-up like environment;
  • Willingness to travel extensively in North America

Normal setting for this job is: office setting.
The expected salary range for this position is $132,000 to $142,000 per year. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive pay.
