Water Mission is Hiring a Procurement Manager Near Charleston, SC

What is the position?
Under the direction of the Director of Supply Chain Management, the Procurement Manager will oversee Water Mission’s procurement of products and services in the US and set global procurement standards. This role will provide friendly service to the organization’s staff while ensuring integrity, efficiency, and cost savings. The Procurement Manager position is based in North Charleston, South Carolina.
A successful Procurement Manager will:
  • Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to colleagues, partners, the communities we serve, and the public.
  • Engage and participate in prayer before and after team meetings.
  • Lead and participate in biblically based staff devotions.
  • Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to colleagues, partners, the communities we serve, and the public.
  • Maintain procurement policy for global use and prepare and maintain procurement procedures for the US as well as procedures templates for other countries, with the objectives of clarifying accountabilities, eliminating fraud, optimizing efficiency vs structure, balancing speed with cost-savings, and allowing audits of activities in comparison to the policies and procedures.
  • Oversee US procurement activities in compliance with policies and procedures and lead by example in providing friendly service to the organization’s staff.
  • Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements.
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with other members of Supply Chain Management department and other key stakeholders to ensure coordinated workflows, backup support, and clarity of the specifications and expectations of the organization.
  • Collaborate with IT and other staff to ensure that NetSuite serves the organization efficiently and effectively to support applicable policies and procedures.
  • Control spend and build a culture of cost-saving.
What are the requirements?
  • Personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Alignment with Water Mission's Statement of Faith and core values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in purchasing or procurement.
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a procurement leader and supervisor.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, procurement, logistics, or business administration preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate ideas and feedback constructively.
  • Experience preparing and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Positive attitude of service to others and ability to get along well with other staff, vendors, and partners.
  • Vendor management experience.
  • Experience with procurement in a government setting.
  • Experience combatting procurement fraud in the developing world.
  • Contract management and negotiation experience.
  • Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers.
  • Experience in collecting and analyzing data.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds at times.
  • Ability to travel internationally for 10 days at a time up to twice annually.
