The purpose of the Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party consultants or contractors to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define project objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. The Project Manager serves as a business partner within the divisions they are assigned to, understanding business and technical requirements within those divisions and serving as a liaison for the divisions and the technical IT team.

  • Serve as the Business Partner for one or more assigned Divisions demonstrate a passion to understand the business and what is trying to be achieved, balanced with good communication and rapport with the technical IT team to build/buy and deliver solutions.
  • Direct and manage project development from beginning to end, including all project documentation, stakeholder management, and coordination of project team to meet project goals and objectives.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Monitor the project from initiation through delivery including planning and directing schedules and monitoring budget/spending.
  • Coordinate work activities of cross-functional teams by scheduling tasks, setting work priorities, and directing the work of assigned project team members.
  • Develop and deliver project status reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations to wide audiences including senior management.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and devise contingency plans.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project life cycle.
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate project team members and vendors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team with minimal assistance.
  • Monitor and track all escalated issues to resolution.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Understand business impacts of issues and how they relate to IT owned solutions.
  • Where required, negotiate with other department managers for required project team resources.
  • Provide reliable solutions to a wide range of difficult problems including evaluation of new technologies to improve existing functions.
  • Serve as liaison between the IT Division and the Business to ensure all implementation requirements and targets are met.
  • Lead project management process improvement efforts.
  • Work with business users to identify and document business requirements and process improvements.
  • Analyze existing business process requirements, prepare requirements and specifications, and evaluate and recommend process changes or IT solutions.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and project management techniques.
  • Develop request for proposals (RFP), manage responses, analyze results, present findings, and arrange for demonstrations as applicable.
  • Provide mentoring and support to other project managers and business analysts.
  • Develop business cases for system enhancements and new project requests.
  • Assist in the implementation of project management tools and methodologies.
  • Assist in the creation of standard templates for project management deliverables.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or another relevant field.
  • Five years of experience in project management, technical or functional project lead or related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated mastery of project management principles and ability to adapt practices to meet changing business needs and priorities.
  • Knowledge of IT development and/or project management methodologies used for the systems development and implementations.
  • Demonstrated experience in successful implementation of technology solutions.
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to gather and analyze facts, draw conclusions, define problems, and suggest solutions.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, vendors, and business users.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, build consensus, facilitate working sessions, and negotiate solutions and alternatives.
  • Ability to conduct training and informational sessions.
  • Proven leadership and superior problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent decision-making skills and ability to exercise good judgment.
  • High degree of initiative, self-motivation and assertiveness.
  • Thorough knowledge of and competency in MS Office automation software including Project, Visio, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Pre-employment background verification and drug screen must meet WaterOne standards.

  • Certification in Project Management.
