Overview Waters is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of a Biopharmaceutical Sales Development Specialist . Waters' latest innovations in specialty measurements are crafted to address the multi-layered analytical needs of large molecule characterization and quantitation – from innovator biopharmaceuticals, to biosimilars, to antibody drug conjugates, to cell and gene therapies as well as to keep pace with the regulatory changes that impact development laboratories.
The Biopharma Sales Development Specialist will have the exciting opportunity to drive the sales of our full range of products and services, which include Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography Systems, Mass Spectrometers and software for the US East Region.
Ideally, the candidate would reside in one of the following states (MA, RI or CT). The desired candidate should be highly self-motivated to develop and implement a Regional Business plan, while working in unison with their assigned Account Managers, Specialists and Marketing colleagues to deliver a strong call cycle and business development activities with a focus on biopharmaceuticals and bioprocessing. The foundation of this role is to develop a keen understanding of the customers' needs to craft solutions with lasting and significant impact.
Responsibilities:
  • Purposefully develop new prospects and penetrate driven accounts while maintaining current customer base happiness for assigned market.
  • Perform solution-based selling to meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Implement strategic sales initiatives into the region that are consistent with goals and objectives.
  • Keep current on assigned market dynamics, application trends, and competitive information.
  • Lead forecasting, establishment of sales goals and pipeline management.
  • Develop and maintain technical proficiency with Waters solutions to be recognized by customers as a credible resource.
  • Fully apply our sales contact management tools and applications.
  • Participate in trade shows and local technical seminars as required.
  • Drive technical discussions with customers to gain a deep understanding of their needs and identify growth opportunities.
  • Travel within the territory will about 50%
Qualifications:
  • Degree BS / Master / PHD in scientific areas: such as chemistry, biology, or biochemistry
  • At least 5 years of experience with chromatography. UPLC, Mass Spec
  • Strong understanding of / or experience with upstream bioprocessing and Product/Critical Quality Attribute monitoring
  • Strong understanding of / or experience with clone selection, protein functional analyses, and the analysis of cell culture media.
  • Field sales and / or marketing experience is a plus.
  • Action orientation and hard-working for results.
  • Proven experience in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Good organization / planning / time management skills

  • Positive demeanour and strong sense of dedication

  • Proven understanding of the Biopharma industry and labs
  • Strong technical background in large molecule Analytical Technologies, LC and MS
Responsibilities
  • Meet or exceed sales targets for Waters products in the East Region.
  • Grow installed base, focusing on replacements and take market share.
  • Purposefully assist the development of new prospects and penetrate driven accounts.
  • Help to identify and develop collaborations/ seed evaluations in order to take market share.
  • Set up development activities to fill the funnel and identify Net New leads and customers.
  • Visit/call on customers with the TAMs to highlight Waters solutions and help customers address technical and business challenges. (Executive Level Selling).
  • Build technical competency on Waters solutions and to be a key resource to the sales team as well as the customers.
  • Keep current on vertical markets dynamics, application trends, and competitive information.
  • Prospecting of Opportunities. Sharing with TAMs.
  • Provide information to marketing team to create business development programs and return on investment.
  • Full utilization of our Sales Contact Management tools and applications.
  • Supervise TAMs opportunities that will be forecasted for accuracy.
  • Develop business through a focused Take Share business plan.
  • Develop/ Educate the Field Staff.
  • Calculate/ supervise return on investment of Development activities. Provide seminar reports.
Qualifications Education:
  • Bachelors Degree, Masters, or PhD in scientific area such as chemistry, biology, or biochemistry
Experience:
  • proven experience in the Bio Pharmacuetical industry.
  • UPLC, Mass Spec, field sales and/or marketing is a plus
  • Overnight travel is required and international travel as needed
