WAUKESHA SCHOOL DISTRICT is Hiring a Teacher - Special Education - Butler Near Waukesha, WI

The School District of Waukesha is seeking a highly qualified Special Education Teacher to join our Butler Middle School Special Education Team. We are dedicated to ensuring ALL of our students achieve rigorous academic growth and achievement goals. We value equity, excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
The goal of this position is to engage students in grades 6-8 in the learning experiences necessary to meet the needs of IEP goals. This will include teaching small groups of students executive functioning and emotional regulation skills with goal setting, specially designed instruction in math, as well as supporting in the regular education math classrooms. This position will case manage 6th graders and support their transition to Butler Middle School.
Candidates should:
  • Desire to teach in an urban and/or culturally & linguistically diverse setting.
  • Believe ALL students can learn, think, and communicate meaningfully regardless of differing ability levels.
  • Collaborate with families, colleagues, grade level teams, and members of the school's Student Services Team regarding student learning goals.
  • Build positive relationships with children and constructively manage student behavior.
  • Participate in and contribute to Professional Learning Communities at the school and district level.
  • Implement evidence-based strategies that support School Improvement Plan goals and expectations in the School District of Waukesha's Vision of Excellence.
  • The successful candidate will case manage students identified with disabilities including, but not limited to: autism, specific learning disabilities, emotional/behavioral, and intellectual disabilities who are monolingual (English) and/or English Language Learners (Spanish) as well as develop programming and manage support for the department.
  • Design learning opportunities and instruct students with complex support needs in the areas of: emotional and behavioral regulation strategies, self-advocacy skills, independence skills, and functional academic understanding.
Additionally, the successful candidate will:
  • Co-teach with regular education teachers to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Provide evidence-based intervention / specialized instruction and monitor student progress to close achievement gaps.
  • Possess an unwavering belief and drive for all students to develop the capacity and skills to be community, college and career ready.
