Job Description Qualifications
  • Michigan teacher certificate and full approval as a Special Education Teacher in one or more areas
  • Evidence of understanding and knowledge of the Individual Education Program (IEP) process
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and community to advance student behavior and academic skills
  • Excellent communication and consultation skills
  • Excellent attendance pattern and high level of professionalism
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with augmentative communication devices
  • Knowledge of the Michigan Extended State Standards
Performance Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement academic instructional programs for students pursuing certificate of completion
  • Participate in the development of and implementation of the responsibilities of the IEP for each student under his/her supervision, including technology skills, and Illuminate Ed program.
  • Work closely and collaborate with other teachers, diagnostic staff, administrative personnel, paraprofessionals, and parents regarding students and their programs.
  • Carry out responsibilities in compliance with all state and federal special education regulations and to participate fully in all monitoring and program evaluation activities.
  • Participate in all assigned in-service training and staff meetings (building and department level).
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned to increase student department success.
