Role Overview: The Functional/System Analyst will serve as the bridge between the product and engineering teams, advocating for solutions and ensuring that technical and business requirements are seamlessly integrated. This role requires a blend of strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of the financial services industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements, creating concise and detailed specifications (BRD, SRD/SRS, user stories).
• Conduct hands-on data analysis using SQL, interpreting large data sets to inform business decisions.
• Perform business logic reverse engineering and translate technical data into actionable business insights.
• Lead and facilitate SCRUM processes, ensuring effective project resource balancing and dependency management.
• Act as a liaison between product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment on project goals and requirements.
• Utilize UML or RUP methodologies to document system approaches, defining use cases, workflows, business flows, and handling exceptions.
• Develop and maintain technical specifications and documentation, ensuring diligence and precision in all project deliverables.
• Influence and guide distinct individuals and teams, projecting confidence and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Analyze and manipulate data using SQL and other data analytical tools, envisioning future features based on data signals.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices, particularly within investment management and market data.

Qualifications:

• Experience in a similar role within the investment banking or financial services industry is a plus

• SQL or python or scripting language of your choice - purely for research, understanding and looking through code

• Excel

• Proficient in project management, with a proven track record of executing medium-sized projects, managing dependencies, and balancing resources.
• Excellent management, organizational, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Hands-on experience as a SCRUM Master, with SAFe certification being a plus.
• Knowledge of UML or RUP for documenting system approaches.
• Strong business analysis skills, with the ability to perform requirements management and create detailed specifications.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience in leading scrum pods.
• Ability to project confidence, influence stakeholders, and act as a cohesive force within diverse teams.
