Department: Housing Support Services Work Arrangement: Hybrid-remote

Program Manager I

Interested in joining our team of dedicated professionals? Way Finders is currently seeking a full-time bilingual (English/Spanish) Program Manager (level I) in our Housing Support Services program. The Program Manager I supports our mission with the successful administration and supervision of the placement of families who are currently in the Residential Resource Center into permanent housing, through effective housing-focused assessments, case management, and family stabilization.
The candidate may work in a hybrid-remote capacity according to the needs of the program. Living within commutable distance is required.
Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the coordination and delivery of services such as assessments of client housing needs and addressing other barriers that affect stabilization including financial, legal issues, mental health challenges, substance abuse, lack of employment, health care concerns and household management education
  • Oversee re-housing plans and ensure goals address identified needs and maximize self-sufficiency; maintain re-housing data
  • Oversee the DHCD process for completing and documenting infractions and non-compliance termination requests
  • Collaborate with Housing Case Manager(s) and Program Specialist(s) on permanent housing placements
  • Oversee the maintenance of complete and accurate case files, including on family progress towards established goals; perform audits and unit walk-throughs on a regular basis to ensure all applicable rules, regulations, and standards are being met
  • Ensure all applicable regulations, policies, and compliance measures are followed
  • Conduct regular staff and case review meetings to communicate and meet or exceed programming needs
  • Facilitate and/or support case managers in the mediation of issues between clients and /or owner/landlords
  • Keep current with housing and homelessness prevention findings and trends
  • Assist in development and implementation of trainings and/or action plans to ensure the knowledge and skills necessary to meet program objectives
  • Analyze monthly expenditures, support shelter procurement process, ordering, and delivery of shelter supply needs, under supervision of Program Director and in collaboration with the Facilities Manager
  • Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal staff and departments, owners, landlords, community groups, funding sources, and other housing related departments or agencies to achieve departmental goals
  • Proactively identify and inform management/leadership of any issues that may adversely affect the department or the organization
  • Provide on-call services as required

Supervisory responsibilities include:

  • Hire new/replacement staff in an efficient and equitable manner, following recruiting process guidelines
  • Set effective and achievable training plans for new staff members; evaluate and make process improvements based on feedback
  • Evaluate and provide timely feedback to staff on performance-related matters; assess staff members’ strengths and developmental needs; implement performance plans to ensure the development and/or maintenance of necessary skills while fostering a culture of teamwork and collaboration
  • Provide proper support and mentoring to any supervisory-level employees to ensure they take ownership of their own hiring needs
  • Those directly and indirectly supervised may include case managers, housing search workers, residential advocates

Requirements include:

  • 5 years' progressively responsible experience in housing, social services, or a related role, with 1 year in a supervisory or lead role; a combination of experience plus an Associate degree may be a substitute
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) verbal and written skills required
  • Case management experience highly preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, and comfort learning new technologies
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work with diverse populations
  • Experience developing and leading effective trainings
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record; reliable vehicle
