Qualifications
Valid Kentucky Certification as a School Principal
Three (3) years of successful teaching experience with demonstrated evidence of and potential for success in administrative/supervisory responsibilities
Demonstrates knowledge of current curriculum and instructional trends and techniques.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent Basic FunctionServe as the chief academic and administrative officer at the assigned school. Provide leadership, supervision, and motivation for staff and students. Delegate responsibilities as appropriate and assign staff duties relative to the daily function of the school. Responsible for the safety and welfare of those assigned to the school. Representative Duties
Plans, administers, and supervises the educational program of the school in a manner consistent with the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals/objectives.
Promotes a culture of continuous improvement by leading/facilitating the school’s professional learning community.
Implements the policies and procedures of the district as they pertain to the individual school.
Responsible for collecting, organizing, analyzing, using, and maintaining all students’ achievement performance data which are required by the District
Select staff in consultation with SBDM.
Evaluates personnel in accordance with evaluation plan.
Supervises all certified and classified personnel assigned to the school.
Communicates directly and frequently with all members of the staff, SBDM Council, PTA/PTO, parents, and community.
Responsible for school correspondence, general correspondence, notices for general distribution to the school community, etc.
Responsible for the interpretation and execution of directives from the Superintendent.
Works in consultation and cooperation with district staff.
Directs and assists in preparing all reports as required by the school district.
Supervises completion and monitoring of all student records.
Manages all discipline in the school per the Board of Education’s Student Code of Conduct and the school’s SBDM policies.
Enforces the observation of all federal and state laws (includes Special Education and the chairing of most Admission and Release Committee {ARC} meetings), SBDM school policies, rules, and safety regulations.
Ensures that the school plant and facilities are conducive to a positive learning environment through coordination with district facilities and food service personnel.
Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with students, staff, parents and community members.
Demonstrates professional courtesy by working cooperatively with colleagues, sharing ideas, materials, and techniques with other administrators, and informing appropriate personnel of school-related matters.
Serves as a liaison and primary communicator among the school, home, and district
Responsible for establishing and maintaining community relations which include the use of the school facility (Building Usage Policy and requirements).
Directs and assists in the classification and promotion of pupils per SBDM policy.
Coordinates and supervises extracurricular, co-curricular programs/activities, and all other parent support groups to include athletic boosters.
Maintains a complete inventory of all equipment and supplies in the building(s) and completes all appropriate and required reports.
Maintains regular attendance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
