Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Manager, Communications- School of Social Work at its Detroit campus location.

The Manager,Communications is responsible for strategic and coordinated dissemination oftranslational research produced by the School of Social Work’s Center forBehavioral Health and Justice (CBHJ) to a variety of diverse audiences.Responsible for managing project deliverables, collecting, and organizingresearch outcomes across projects, and educating internal and external partnerson the CBHJ’s research. This position will report to the Director,Implementation.
Collect, organize, and strategically translate research from the CBHJ’s project initiatives into accessible language for different audiences for dissemination. Develop dissemination plan in alignment with the CBHJ’s mission and purpose. Supervise dissemination of CBHJ project deliverables.
Design and implement effective communication strategies such as publications, websites, social media, and press releases. Coordinate participation in relevant conferences and symposiums to present findings. Assist with the development of short- and long-range strategic plans to achieve the Centers communication strategy. Supervise, direct, plan and prioritize education on CBHJ’s research for internal and external audiences.
Plan and organize stakeholder engagement strategy. Identify and engage with key stakeholders to foster collaboration and partnerships that support research dissemination.
Collaborate with Directors to develop proposals and budgets for new projects to ensure research dissemination is prioritized. Establish metrics to assess the impact of research dissemination efforts.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education Master's degree
Master's degree in Social Work, Public Health, or Criminal Justice
Experience Specialist (minimum 5 years of job-related experience)
Expertise in web-based research materials, content-specific websites, and toolkits, as well as proficiency in managing digital communication channels.
Experience writing, designing brochures, filers, and reports.
Experience managing social media accounts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Project Management: Demonstrates the use of strategic and mission critical approaches in decision-making. Strong ability to manage a variety of communications initiatives while ensuring appropriate quality control and follow-up.
Supervisory Skills: Able to delegate responsibilities, support, manage and, if necessary, discipline staff.
Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to meet deadlines. Ability to work effectively with established deadlines and pressure.
Interpersonal Skills: Able to build cooperative, effective relationships, facilitate communication and understanding among professionals. The ability to build consensus, anticipate problems and difficult situations, and develop workable strategies and solutions.
Results oriented: Proven experience in developing and managing web-based research materials and communication initiatives. Proficiency in data visualization and content-specific website development. Experience with audio/visual production and social media management.
Technical skills: Ability to use all Microsoft platforms, edit visual content using Adobe, create graphs and charts to support written content.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and rapidly expanding research center.
