Wayside Recovery Center Job DescriptionPROGRAM: Wayside Recovery Center – primary position location Wellness outpatient and across all sites if needed
JOB TITLE: Recovery Support Driver
REPORTS TO: Outpatient Director
PURPOSE: The Recovery Support Driver will provide transportation and support services to Wayside clients to increase client access to Wayside’s outpatient recovery services.
Job ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:
  • Provide transportation for Wayside clients across the Twin Cities to ensure access to Wayside’s outpatient recovery services.
  • Remain with clients and offer support at appointments as needed.
  • Maintain a schedule of transportation needs. Assist with appointment confirmation prior to transport.
  • Assist staff in planning and delivering transportation for client events.
  • Deliver supplies and mail between Wayside locations.
  • Serve as the contact person for transportation needs.
  • Maintain service records on Wayside vehicles. Ensures vehicle equipment such as brakes, lights, windshield wipers, etc., is maintained and operating properly. Conducts routine maintenance on vehicles including adding gasoline, oil, and water and checking tire pressure. Assist with scheduling maintenance and repairs.
  • Keep inside of vehicles clean. Checks the vehicle to ensure that no personal items are left behind.
  • Ensure safety of passengers, including use of appropriate child safety seats and seat belts. Provide the assistance required to safely board clients and children Observes safety regulations and state laws regarding vehicle operation; ensures passengers also follow applicable safety regulations.
  • Role model behavior that is consistent with and supportive to people in recovery from substance use disorder, such behavior will include upholding ethical standards of the program and reliable attendance.
  • Maintain accurate and timely required documentation while ensuring compliance with privacy requirements. Other Duties as Assigned Job Requirements:
  • Must be free from problematic substance use for at least two years immediately preceding their hiring and must sign a statement attesting to that fact.
  • Must be able to pass a DHS background check and meet applicable requirements and regulations.
  • Good driving record and current Minnesota Driver’s License required along with reliable transportation. Class C license preferred.
  • No DUIs in last three years; No more than three moving violations/accidents in past three years.
  • CPR for Health Care Workers certification required or able to obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • One year experience working as a driver. Two years’ experience preferred.
  • Must have High School diploma/GED.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of substance use disorder and/or mental health
  • Must value diversity and demonstrate the ability to work with and be able to relate well to and enjoy working with persons of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Congenial, organized, and compassionate individual to work in cooperative team relationship within the agency and with external community organizations.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an ability to be responsive in an effective manner, while maintaining a warm and supportive atmosphere.
  • Must be reliable and capable of working independently and remaining calm in case of emergency.
  • Thorough understanding of traffic regulations, road signs, and routes. Physical Requirements:
  • Physically able to drive a vehicle for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb stairs.
Preferred Experience
  • Lived Recovery experience
  • Experience driving a 15-passenger vehicle
