  • What you’ll be doing... This opportunity is for Military personnel who are current participants of the Department of Defense Skillbridge Program or are participants of the Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 3-2024 As an Enterprise Architect (EA) on the CSG team, you will lead the creation, continual curation, and oversight of enterprise architectural artifacts, financial research, business, operational, and technical fit for capabilities in the CSG portfolio, and continually scan the horizon for optimization. As an Enterprise Architect (EA), you will drive data-driven, actionable enterprise architecture practice across the CSG portfolio. The EA will be working across the portfolio and with the product teams to ensure that the progression of our Northstar architecture, and technical stack is kept in mind while balancing the needs of enterprise architecture, and business programs. The EA will frequently work with counterparts in other organizations, particularly for larger projects that have impacts across portfolios. The EA role will also be engaged in application rationalization activities related to mergers and acquisitions and generate assessments, and recommendations for capability placement, directionality, and consolidation targets. The EA will be supporting current and near-term business needs, defining Architectural Runway and architectural governance policies. The EA will work at both a Portfolio and program level and with the Development Agile Teams. The EA will also facilitate the reuse of ideas, components, services, and proven patterns across various solutions in a portfolio. The candidate must be able to establish relationships and work with managers at all levels without supervision. You must be able to articulate the problem statement and openly bring up challenges/roadblocks and impediments, negotiate, influence and drive solutions with directors and VPs in CSG space for tactical and strategic enterprise architecture approach and business capabilities.
Responsibilities include:
  • Application and capabilities rationalization, optimization, and governance across the CSG portfolio.
  • Tracks and drives application vendor roadmaps (Workday, ServiceNow, SAP amongst others) in alignment with our business priorities, and application portfolio rationalization and maximizes the value of our investments in vendor products and services for our functional domains in HR, Employee Experience, ITSM, Supply chain, and ERP systems amongst others.
  • Tracks industry trends and leverages them to drive innovation and technology excellence across various functional domains.
  • Assess vendor product capabilities to meet Northstar software/infrastructure standards, resiliency and redundancy requirements, and scalability.
  • Performs regular assessments and retrospectives to determine if past decisions and directions are still sound and whether course correction is required.
  • Leads the creation and oversight of architectural and financial research within functional areas to develop the business value of program integration
  • Develops, delivers, and communicates architecture artifacts for implementation and execution of business and IT-driven initiatives from ideation through roll out. You will exercise considerable judgment, trade-offs evaluation, and risk mitigation planning during the upfront architecture evaluation, definition, and design phases.
  • Make vs Buy analysis of tools/technologies/products/SaaS as they apply to CSG products roadmaps, tooling and functions.
  • Provides technology leadership in delivering architecture artifacts that promote reusability, modularity and scalability
  • Partners with business and IT stakeholders to align with business drivers and product strategy across various lines of businesses, and apply service-oriented architecture, microservices architecture patterns and cloud-native principles to deliver architecture artifacts.
  • Define, implement and enforce the Cloud and On-Prem Standard Operating Environment, standards, and associated tools/platforms/frameworks for the CSG portfolio, in coordination with IT-wide efforts and Technology Architecture and Planning.
  • Cloud standards, DevOps / CI-CD toolchain , Data Architecture, and Standard Operating Environment (SOE)
  • Understand and build on emerging industry trends and how it works with Verizon.
Cloud Architecture, Strategy; Execution
  • Define and enforce in the CSG portfolio architecture and best practices: availability; redundancy schemes, performance, Disaster Recovery, DB and Interfacing Systems, etc.
  • Work within the portfolio and with external teams to drive Data Analytics direction, frameworks, tools and governance Basic Qualifications:
Must be a current participant of the Department of Defense Skillbridge Program or of the Hiring our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related IT field
  • 6 or more years of experience in IT systems/solution design experience
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
  • Experience in the Supply Chain, HR functions, and/or Financial Industry
  • Demonstrable experience leading software developers, systems or process analysts
  • Excellent communication (verbal and writing), influencing, and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrable experience in articulating the business drivers and architectural approach/trade-offs during discussions for solution buy-in at various levels
  • Ability to break down complex topics into simple-to-digest information and data points, adjusted to audiences at various levels
  • Ability to facilitate group meetings/discussions
