The Tax Analyst is responsible for assisting with federal, state, local and international income tax returns. In addition, the Tax Analyst will play a significant role in the preparation of the accounting for income taxes and the various supporting calculations. The ideal candidate will participate in the formation of tax policy, tax processes, and tax procedures for Lands' End.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with federal, state, local and international tax returns and related work papers. Assist with international tax filings, U.S international tax considerations, transfer pricing, and other international related projects.
  • Prepare and review quarterly income tax provision and related deferred tax work papers. Prepare and review tax footnotes for SEC filings. Update effective tax rate forecasts for interim reporting purposes. Ensure income tax related internal controls are being exercised without exception. Assisted with tax impacts of stock reporting.
  • Prepare technical analysis and maintain awareness of legislative changes for various federal, state, and international considerations.
  • Respond to information document requests from federal, state & local auditors.
  • Assist in the further integration of tax technology as part of compliance processes to improve automation and efficiencies.
  • Perform tax research and other special tax projects.
  • Maintain tax calendar and ensure all tax filing requirements are timely and accurate.
  • Assist in the SOX compliance controls.
  • Prepare and review state and local sales and use tax returns including working with Treasury, Accounting, and IT to monitor cash collections and payments to the various jurisdictions.
  • Prepare and review filings necessary in various jurisdictions with respect to property tax including review of applicable local laws and regulations concerning taxable property.
  • Prepare and review various other transactional tax filings such as local registrations, permits to do business, etc.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. Masters in Taxation or Advanced degree preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of progressive experience in public accounting (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Broad technical knowledge of corporate federal, state, local and international income/franchise tax.
  • ASC 740 technical skills in a public company setting.
  • Exposure to IRS and other statutory income tax audits.
  • Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Previous exposure to general ledger (Oracle Hyperion, etc.), automated tax provision software (One Source, Corp Tax, etc.), tax preparation software, and tax research software a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Diligent work ethic and high energy level.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work and collaborate with non-tax personnel across various lines of business.
