Prototype Technician

This position is responsible for creating one-of-a-kind products that directly support the research and development process. You’ll work closely with design engineering to fabricate prototypes and test existing designs. Working in a highly collaborative environment, you will learn from success and failures and actively share your ideas, experience, and support with other team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs skilled activities which support manufacturing business needs. Selects and uses appropriate tools, machinery and specialty equipment completing work with limited guidance. Learns and understands the protocols of working safely with electricity and other energy sources with industrial equipment
• Work with engineers and product development teams to create prototypes of new products
• Has knowledge of fabrication shop equipment. (shears, drill presses, hydraulic presses, press brake, band saws, power, and hand tools)
• Assemble prototypes and test their functionality
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area
• Assist with troubleshooting issues that arise during prototype development
• Perform routine maintenance on prototype development equipment

Skills/Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Excellent mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot issues
• Strong technical skills in a hands-on fabrication role
• Proficient at interpreting technical drawings and specifications
• Strong attention to detail
• 2 years experience in a prototype development, technical, or related role highly preferred
• Good communication and collaboration skills
