Electrical Engineer

Hybrid Work Environment in Baltimore, MD

Base Salary $100K to $140K

We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Electronics Hardware and/or Control Design.

Responsibilities:

• Designing and testing SiC-based power electronic converter topologies such as active rectifiers, isolated DC-DC converters, solid-state transformers, and high-speed motor drives.
• Developing DSP-based digital control algorithms, FPGA modulators, and PLC-based system controllers.
• Creating detailed PCB designs for SiC gate drivers, system control PCBs, and related support hardware.
• Designing and testing low (1.2 - 1.7 kV) and medium voltage (3.3 – 10 kV) SiC semiconductor modules.
• Implementing embedded control algorithms, harmonic compensators, software PLLs, and other related algorithms.
• Establishing Controller-Hardware-in-the-Loop test setups, control cards, and algorithms.
• Preference for experience with medium voltage power distribution, solid-state transformers, and PCB design.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be a United States Citizen due to US Government ITAR program restrictions.
• 5-11 years of experience in electrical engineering.
• BS in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field required; MS and PhDs preferred.
• Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Desirable Experience (not required):

• Design or control of motor drives, AC-DC, and DC-AC converters.
• Development of high-speed communications using FPGAs.
• Programming of microcontrollers, DSPs, and FPGAs.
• Experience with TI C2000 DSPs and Altera FPGAs.
• Hands-on experience with OPAL-RT, Typhoon, PLECS RT Box, or similar HIL platforms.
