This includes product sourced with external suppliers or product manufactured at one of our facilities in Asia. The team is also responsible for managing the Service Part offering and fulfillment for both motors and generators. We are looking for a Global Category Manager Expert to join our team. Position SummaryThe Sourced Product & Service Parts team is a small, high-energy team, driving profitable growth for Marathon Electric and supporting both the Motors & Generators businesses. The Global Category Expert position requires a candidate with a strong entrepreneurial mindset, willing to manage multiple projects, and lead projects and activities that may be outside the typical supply management role. The candidate will be responsible for the global sourced product supply chain, including tactical and strategic activities. Primary responsibilities are sourcing and supplier performance management such as quality, delivery, lead time, and cost. Additional areas of involvement / oversight will include purchasing, materials/inventory, forecasting, and logistics. A critical, hands-on aspect of this unique role is ensuring alignment of customer demand with the supply of product. Significant interaction with the business is expected and required, including functions such as Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Customer Service, and Finance.
This role reports to the Business Leader – Sourced Products and will provide an excellent opportunity to directly impact business financial results as well as expand knowledge and understanding of the broader business.

Major Responsibilities
- Ensure continuous, stable supply of sourced products from global suppliers and inter-company plants
- Define, develop, and communicate the category strategy that aligns with business and product strategies and objectives
- Develop and manage supplier relationships, including negotiations and supply agreements as needed
- Identify potential suppliers and makes recommendations on supplier selection and quality compliance
- Create and analyze RFQ packages, recommend actions
- Execute plans to meet customer commitment to deliver quality parts, on time, every time
- Define, drive, and implement continuous improvement projects to ensure objectives are met
- Work with SIOP team to establish target safety stock levels for stocked product
- Work closely with the Sourced Product buyers to ensure material availability to meet inventory stocking levels and/or customer order promised date
- Ensure item parameters in Oracle ERP system are correct and updated as needed, including pricing, lead time, sourcing rules
- Perform data mining and spend analysis reporting in support of Product Manger requests
- Provide regular updates on Sourced Product supply chain in support of weekly, monthly, and quarterly Business Unit Reviews
- 4-year degree in supply chain, engineering, or business, or equivalent experience, preferred
- 3-5 years global sourcing, purchasing, materials, or customer service experience, preferred
- Working knowledge of Oracle or related ERP systems
- Advanced Word, Power Point and Excel, including Pivot Tables
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to be an influential team player
- Ability to function well in a rapid paced, multi-task environment
- Highly motivated to increase knowledge of supply chain, manufacturing, and business
