Job Title: Operator II (Compression Operator, Compression Department)

Job Description: The Operator II is a versatile role responsible for executing scheduled production orders with the opportunity to work across blending, compression, and packaging departments. The individual will handle the blending of powders, compressing tablets, and operating packaging machinery. This role requires adherence to safety procedures, proper use of personal protective equipment, and compliance with company standard operating procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) regulations to ensure products meet quality standards. The Operator II is accountable for safety, quality, and equipment efficiency.

Main responsibilities when in each area:

  • In packaging: Provide leadership to the team on the line, leverage mechanical aptitude to set up lines and operate packaging machines, fill out paperwork and work as a line lead.
  • In Blending: Precisely blend batches of powders and tablets following batching sheets and SOPs; accurately weigh and measure ingredients using a scale.
  • In Compression: Disassembles, cleans, reassembles, sets up, and operates all required equipment for operation, and makes light mechanical adjustments on tablet presses necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the equipment for the required quality and quantity.

Overview of Responsibilities

  • Blend batches of powders and tablets following batching sheets and SOPs; accurately weigh and measure ingredients using a scale.
  • Operate multiple machines, including tablet presses, mixers, and packaging equipment, ensuring smooth and efficient production.
  • Perform routine quality testing and document daily production performance and issues.
  • Disassemble, clean, reassemble, and set up all required equipment; make light mechanical adjustments to ensure optimal operation.
  • Work safely with chemicals with varying hazard ratings, including irritants, corrosives, and oxidizers.
  • Pull and organize materials necessary for production, verifying the materials to be used.
  • Perform inventory transactions in the MRP system to ensure accurate allocation and tracking of chemicals.
  • Participate in daily start-up and shutdown procedures for the manufacturing area.
  • Provide training for new employees and assist in driving the production team to meet safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Perform basic and routine maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment.
  • Operate a motorized forklift and pallet jacks to move products throughout the facility.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong listening and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret recipes, weights, and measures.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective team leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to operate a forklift; forklift certification is a plus.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Education:

  • High School diploma is a plus.

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing setting is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Extended periods of standing.
  • Frequently lifts and moves items weighing up to 60 pounds.
