Wellesley Public Schools is Hiring a 0.2FTE United Scholars Teacher SY24-25 Near Wellesley Hills, MA
ResponsibilitiesUnited Scholars teacher teaches 2 sections of this class. Each section meets every other day, so the teacher would be teaching 1 section on “odd” days of our schedule and a different section on “even” days. The class has the following responsibilities:
- Work with academic department heads to coordinate push in preview/support/extension lessons based on student need
- Create and lead social-emotional support, check-ins, or mini-lessons as part of class, especially ones related to topics of race, ethnicity, and affinity
- Help students make sure they are up to date with coursework for their other classes, providing time when available to work on assignments
- Build a supportive classroom environment where students push and support their peers to reach their goals
- Work with the WMS principal to coordinate mid-term check-ins with students
- As possible, attend team meetings, and collaborate with team teachers to support student success
- Work with students, parents, and WHS staff to best navigate the course selection process and opportunities during the Gr. 8 to Gr. 9 transition
