About this role:Wells Fargo is looking for a Lead Visual Designer and Illustrator to work on innovative projects in a studio environment within the larger XD team. In this role, you will be a core member of our small-but-mighty team of generalist designers, tackling design challenges large and small - always focused on better.
You have a refined, progressive design aesthetic and are a hands-on visual and UI designer who is as comfortable tackling blank-page problems as you are collaborating with others to understand and finesse the details. Most importantly, you long ago checked your ego at the door: on our team, no task is too great or too small for any of us to handle. Here, design is truly a team sport. In this role, you will be at the center of design for all of our customer-facing digital products and play a pivotal role in building the next generation of products that delight our customers.
In this role, you will:- Be a part of the core team responsible for many aspects of omnichannel product design, from visual creative, illustrations and icons, motion, photography and video
- Lead our designers to think across all dimensions of enterprise-scale omnichannel design, from understanding the needs and workflow of our business partners to crafting the components, to streamlining the complexities of a growing system for our design and content
- As someone in a centralized role across a larger design team, work across business verticals while maintaining close partnership with Design Systems
- Coach and mentor designers and help cultivate an environment where they can grow, learn, and thrive
- Advocate across product areas for the power and benefits of consistency and cohesion across the enterprise and in the Design System, while listening to feedback and exploring ways to transform that feedback into continuous improvement
- Assist in identifying, interviewing, and hiring exceptional talent as we grow our team
Required Qualifications:- 5 years of illustration and design experience for Web or Mobile experiences, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:- Demonstrated expertise creating and advancing digital UI and marketing design for large companies
- Understands the complexities of designing for systems and can approach abstract design problems with real-world outcomes in mind
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to shape and drive work independently
- Is experienced working with systematic development and management of illustration, iconography, and visual design systems
- Possesses exceptional visual taste: is a student of design, illustration, and brand identity and draws reference from art, architecture, fashion, culture, and entertainment
- Possesses a strong (sometimes obsessive) attention to detail
- Is a hands-on designer with exceptional, enviable skills in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud
- Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and can adapt and adjust to real-time shifts in priorities and workflow
- Proactive problem solver with a bias toward execution and a strong sense of urgency (demonstrated track record of getting things done, while building bridges, despite the obstacles in their way)
- Has the ability to consistently articulate a strong design rationale-storytelling skills that compel stakeholders
- Highly inclusive and collaborative-knows when to rally their peers for collaboration but is comfortable going it alone when needed
- Driven by a curiosity mindset: is a student of art and design of all types and considers themselves a lifelong learner
- Stretch goal: has 3D design experience, specifically 3D modeling

- This position is a hybrid work model. Must be willing to work out of Charlotte, NC, San Francisco, CA, or New York, NY approximately 3 days a week

- San Francisco, CA: $115,900 - $206,100
- Charlotte, NC: $96,600 - $171,800
