Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) delivers a comprehensive suite of banking, capital markets and advisory solutions, including a full complement of sales, trading and research capabilities, to corporate, government and institutional clients. We focus on our clients' overall financial needs, with consideration and respect for their total relationship with Wells Fargo.
The Insurance Investment Banking Team, within Wells Fargo's CIB Financial Institutions Group, is seeking a talented and experienced Vice President to join and grow one of the industry's leading insurance investment banking practices.
In this role, you will:
  • Support the insurance investment banking coverage group, product partners and the broader Wells Fargo team as we grow our business.
  • Generate creative strategic and financing ideas for insurance clients.
  • Execute advisory and capital markets transactions on behalf of our clients and Wells Fargo.
  • Drive development of our junior team members.
This role can be based in New York or Charlotte.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5 years of Investment Banking experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • 5 years of financial services experience in investment banking or as an actuary or accountant and/or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Experience within the insurance space is strongly preferred as well as experience working with life & annuity companies
  • 3 years of full-time work experience in an insurance actuarial role
  • Strong quantitative background with experience developing and analyzing actuarial appraisals
  • Experience performing actuarial due diligence for M&A transactions (review of financial metrics, assumptions, risks, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable on various insurance regulatory and accounting changes and their potential impact to our clients
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP and U.S. Statutory accounting frameworks for clients located in US as well as other accounting frameworks for offshore jurisdictions (Bermuda, Cayman's, etc.)
  • Familiarity with various reinsurance solutions used to enhance value in transactions
  • Understanding of key risk factors driving the profitability of various life and annuity products
  • Ability to interface with both the client and actuarial consulting firms on actuarial related matters during a transaction
  • Knowledge and understanding of various asset classes supporting insurance liabilities, especially private credit, and private equity investments and ALM
  • Ability to prepare and diligence a transaction model, incorporating actuarial and deal specific terms to illustrate transaction structure to investors
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills and an ability to effectively multi-task
  • Motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • An ability to work independently, take initiative, and deliver results
Job Expectations:
  • Obtaining and/or maintaining appropriate Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) license(s) is required for ongoing employment in this position. FINRA Series 63 and 79 examinations, or equivalent must be completed within either a 90 or 180-day time period following commencement of employment, depending upon the number of license(s) needed if not immediately available to transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted. This will be communicated at time of offer acceptance. Compliance with state law registration and licensing requirements is mandatory.
  • In addition to state registration and licensing requirements, specific product licenses or SAFE licensing may apply.
  • Additional requirements include meeting enhanced financial fitness and criminal background standards.
  • Wells Fargo will initiate the FINRA licensing review process at the time of offer acceptance.
  • For specific FINRA qualification exams obtained after 9/30/2018, the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam co-requisite is required.
Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$173,300.00 - $359,900.00
