WellStone is North Alabama's most comprehensive behavioral healthcare provider serving over 13,000 persons a year throughout Northern Alabama, with offices in Huntsville and Cullman. The Assessment Therapist (Mon-Fri 8a-5p Cullman,) will provide comprehensive evaluation to identify, analyze, evaluate, and address problems, issues, and circumstances of clients.

What We're Looking For:

• Master's degree in Counseling/Social Work/Related Fields (including practicum or internship)

• Licensure is required

• Good organizational & documentation skills

• Advance written and oral communication

• Versed in DSM VICD 10 Criteria

• Understand principles of recovery

• Knowledge of community resources

• Knowledge of agency program and procedures

• Ability to work independently

What You'll Be Doing:

• Provide comprehensive evaluation in the areas of Mental health and Substance Abuse
• Develop a clinical impression based on presenting mental health symptoms
• Identify and respond to crisis
• Assess safety risk
• Use evidenced based models for evaluation
• Recommend placement into substance abuse treatment
• Informs referral source with required release of information
• Maintain confidentiality
• Adheres to documentation deadlines as outlined by supervisor
• Participate in team meetings and trainings as scheduled
• Identify and explore challenges and ramification with attention to client’s thoughts and feelings
• Act as advocate in accessing needs
• Effectively orient clients to the facility/programs
• Develop a treatment plan
• Present cases to treatment team as necessary
• Manage time and organizes workflow
• If necessary, assist supports with understanding, dealing with or supporting clients
