Join the Tax team at Werner! Prepare and/or review returns and reports for Sales and use tax, personal property tax, and income/franchise tax.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and review of sales and use tax filings and research related to the taxability of purchases and sales in various jurisdictions. Preparation of refund claims
• Analysis of driver miles and fuel. Preparation of state fuel tax refund claims
• Preparation and/or review of personal property tax returns. Analysis of information needed for the preparation of these filings
• Compilation and analysis of information for the preparation of income and franchise tax returns. Preparation of state and local income and franchise tax estimates and returns
• Provide assistance with tax audits
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel
• Regular attendance as agreed to with supervisory personnel

Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, or equivalent experience.
• One to two years of tax preparation or accounting experience preferred.
• Transportation experience is a plus.
• One to two years of sales and use tax experience is a plus.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Good organizational and self-review skills.
• High degree of accuracy.
• Personal computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
• Knowledge of tax preparation and accounting systems (may be gained through on the job training).
