Wesco is Hiring a Director - Planning Near Glenview, IL

As the Director-Planning you will develop and execute the Planning strategy to optimize investment while providing high-level service to customers. You will provide overall strategic and tactical direction to the teams that focus on building the forward visibility of inventory requirements based on historical and future stated customer demand and vendor supply requirements. Additionally, you will oversee and govern the supply and/or demand recommendations assigned by the SBU leadership team in order to meet and exceed key deliverables and KPIs including inventory targets, service levels and inventory health.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the teams accountable for all aspects of planning, using statistical analysis models, and Blue Yonder (BY), to accurately determine how the future forecasted demand of the relevant SBU accurately sourced and to ensuring high service levels, Inventory Health and managed within budgetary expectations
  • Engages with Senior Leadership teams to set constantly evolving Planning Strategies linked to the relevant strategic business units (SBUs); utilize inputs data sets and recommendations from planning teams to influence stakeholder decisions
  • Directs team to develop models through statistical analysis of sales history and enrichment through close engagement with senior level business partners – both internal and external
  • Governs both legacy and BY systems in line with the SBU strategy ensuring changes/adjustments are made within recommended business rules
  • Owns and interprets supply chain relevant data; reviews Statistical Forecast and Forecast Error rate; monitors inventory and track the performance of current supply methods providing direction to improve that process
  • Drives “What if” scenario models through the team to improve forward looking inventory projections and be able to articulate the results to senior business leaders and executives; support the analysis using strong data and interpersonal skills to influence the outcome
  • Ensures the team delivers a robust exception management process reducing the amount and increasing our forecast accuracy and Demand/Supply signals to the procurement team
  • Delivers accurate planning metrics that can be used as outputs by senior business leaders in planning and SBUs
  • Ensures data accuracy and reporting is showcasing BY system information and planning capabilities

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience working within an inventory management environment within Distribution, specifically within a Demand or Supply team in a Management or Senior role
  • 5 years supervisory experience
  • Superior knowledge of Supply Chain processes, such as SIOP, MRP, Forecasting, Demand and Supply Planning, Indirect Procurement, Materials Management and Logistics
  • Constant Use of various software and computer applications, such as Blue Yonder,JDA,Oracle, SAP, SAS, APO and Microsoft Office programs, required
  • Strong process/system background and proven ability to rapidly understand, use and drive improvements in new processes/systems. Lean Practitioner would be desirable
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences
  • A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; able to motivate him/herself and others; easily accepts constructive input from others
  • Effective leader of distributed teams, collaborating in a technology-enabled hybrid model (on-site & remote)
  • Experience with Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) systems, particularly related to the Demand and Supply Planning processes. Understanding of how data is structured within the systems and ability to source the information as well as input data for downstream use preferred
  • Previous manager level experience in the Supply and or Demand Planning field preferred
