Wesley Woods Senior Living is Hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse FT Near Wesley, GA
Schedule: Monday - Friday with rotating weekends from 3p-11p

All job applicants applying for Wesley Woods Senior Living will undergo testing for the presence of illegal drugs as a condition of employment. Any applicant with a confirmed positive test will be denied employment. Applicants will be required to submit voluntarily to a specimen test at a laboratory chosen by Wesley Woods, and by signing a consent agreement will release Wesley Woods from liability. If the physician, official or lab personnel has reasonable suspicion to believe that the job-applicant has tampered with the specimen, the applicant will not be considered for employment. Wesley Woods will not discriminate against applicants for employment because of a past history of drug abuse. It is the current abuse of drugs, preventing employees from performing their jobs properly that will not be tolerated. Wesley Woods is a Drug Free Company. Individuals who have failed a pre-employment test may initiate another inquiry with the company after a period of not shorter than; six (6) months; but they must present themselves drug-free as demonstrated by urinalysis or other tests selected by WWSL.

Key Responsibilities
- Provides patient care by:
- Assisting in assessing patient care needs. Observing and reporting changes to the Registered Nurse.
- Assisting with the planning of patient care utilizing Nursing Care Plans.
- Administering care as it applies to activities of daily living and recording in clear, concise nursing notes.
- Administering therapeutic care and recording in clear, concise nursing notes.
- Contributing to the formation of short and long term goals (patient and family teaching and discharge plans).
- Evaluating patient responses.
- Provides medications by:
- Accurately delivering medications to patients observing the five rights of this process.
- Observing Department of Nursing Policies and Procedures.
- Assists in evaluating patient care by:
- Assisting in revising and updating nursing care and treatment plans.
- Participating in patient care and team conferences
- Teaches and learns by:
- Assisting other members of the health care team as requested.
- Participating in on-the-job training of personnel.
- Participating in teaching and reinforcing teaching plan to patient and family.
- Implements patient care by:
- Administering care for activities of daily living.
- Administering therapeutic care to include admissions and discharges.
- Assisting with physical exams and diagnostic procedures as assigned.
- Collecting specimens.
- Providing postmortem care.
- Delivering treatments as assigned such as enemas, rectal tubes, postural drainage, dressing changes, and irrigation.
- Assisting with nourishments such as meals, supplements, and tube feeding
- Applying isolation techniques and infection control procedures.
- Initiating CPR and assisting in emergency cart use.
- Making clear, concise nursing notes that reflect implementation of and patient response to the nursing care plan.
- Participates in Leadership and Coordination by:
- Assisting in establishing priorities in patient care.
- Assigning work to CNA’s.
- Working as the charge nurse in the absence of the Director of Nursing or the Assistant Director of Nursing, providing general oversight and supervision for all staff assigned to department.
- Assisting the Director of Nursing and/or the Assistant Director of Nursing with staffing and scheduling needs of the department.
- Manages personal development by:
- Participating in activities on unit to improve patient care such as QA, committees, etc.
- Initiating self improvement.
- Attending six hours of in-services and continuing education programs.
- Participating in at least 75% of staff meetings.
- Complies with job related behavior as outlined in Wesley Woods Senior Living policies and procedures by:
- Attending work as scheduled.
- Demonstrating appropriate job related behavior and following Standards of Conduct.
- Annually attending required courses.
- Complying with annual employee health assessment.
- Complying with bloodborne pathogen procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State of Georgia.
- Two years experience as LPN. Currently certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
- Near visual acuity needed to work with charts. Hearing and speech essential to communicate with patients and residents.
- The ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English. Experience in a retirement community preferred. Current CPR and/or First Aid will be required.
- Normal resident units in a long-term, geriatric health care facility.
