Position Summary

The Department of Psychology invites applicants for a Full-time, 9-month, Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor of Psychology positions (three openings due to growth). The positions begin in August 2025.

The mission of the Department of Psychology, part of the College of Sciences and Mathematics, is to advance the discipline of Psychology as an area of scholarly, professional, and scientific endeavor in a diverse and inclusive environment. Focusing on providing high quality education, the students and faculty members exchange ideas stemming from a variety of viewpoints in an environment of mutual respect, collaboration, and equity. The department accomplishes its mission via effective recruitment and retention, training, ground-breaking clinical work, advancing research, community service, and innovative teaching, while demonstrating open and productive dialogue, advocacy, and support.

The faculty positions involve teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses that may be offered in-person and/or via distance education modalities. The ideal candidates will incorporate evidence-based pedagogy and innovative, high-impact teaching practices, and demonstrate attention to the learning and teaching needs of all students. The faculty members will collaborate with other department faculty and staff to ensure student success. The candidates' experience and expertise will serve to support and strengthen the department's mission.

The faculty positions are full-time 9-month appointments. There is potential for Summer and Winter session instructional opportunities.

Responsibilities include :
  • Teach and/or level courses in the Psychology program. Additional courses within area(s) of specialization may be assigned based on department needs.
  • Develop and maintain a productive program of research and scholarly activities involving students, and that includes research presentations, publications, and/or grant-seeking/grant-funded projects. This is necessary for tenure and promotion.
  • Engage in academic advising of undergraduate students
  • Serve the College, University, and the community through participation in various committees. This is necessary for tenure and promotion.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

  • A doctorate in Psychology, Human Development, Neuroscience, or a closely related field/disciple. ABD will be considered - must be completed on or before August 2025
  • Experience as the primary instructor teaching undergraduate and/or graduate Psychology course(s)
  • Experience engaging in an active program of empirical research resulting in peer-reviewed publication(s)
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students in research
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing flexible instructional design and delivery; and/or
  • Ability to teach in both in-person and distance education modalities; and/or
  • Experience implementing high-impact educational practices; and/or
  • First authorship on recent peer-reviewed publication(s)
