The Office of Clinical Experiences and Candidate Services helps teacher candidates to successfully navigate and complete teacher preparation programs. 
 
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Administrative Assistant is primarily responsible for coordinating and maintaining student clinical experiences and providing administrative services for the Office of Clinical Experiences. 
 
The ideal candidate values teamwork and collaboration, supports organizational change, is dependable, takes initiative and can effectively solve problems, communicate with campus partners and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities include: 
 
  • Serve as a liaison between West Chester University and various schools, districts and programs to place teacher candidates for their student teaching experience
  • Communicate placement requests with school, district, and program personnel
  • Organize student teacher placement requests information and documentation
  • Prepare correspondence to be sent to school partners
  • Support and train prospective student teachers in data collection and assessment software
  • Support, monitor, and process student clearances in compliance with WCU clearance policy
  • Verify student teacher eligibility
  • Review and process student teacher applications
  • Prepare and organize student documents in preparation for the student teaching experience
  • Collect, process, and manage faculty supervisor TEV forms
  • Prepare, develop, respond to, and organize a wide range of forms and exhibits for use by prospective student teachers
  • Monitor and maintain Office of Clinical Experiences website 
  • Maintain the current Student Teaching Handbook 
  • Support departmental events
  • Maintain department paper and electronic office files
  • Maintain department copier, printers, fax machine and supply cabinet
  • Oversee office supply inventory and ordering
  • Support Executive Director with administrative tasks
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Such training may have been gained through a four-year college or university OR
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Experience in an administrative support role
  • Customer service experience
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Education or student support experience
  • Experience student information systems
